firm and consistent training to enhance best interaction with humans due to strong urge to hunt. best to concentrate on obedience training for the first year then hunting after. don´t overstrain the young Drever who wants to hunt too much. socialize early so dog gets used to environments other than hunting grounds and for it to get along well with other animals. trained to bark while hunting and will on their freetime as well, so must be trained to know when allowed to bark

Sweden. from the German Dachsbracken, a slow-hunting dog bred to hunt deer, fox and hare. the Dachsbracken came to Sweden in the early 1900 and crossed with the Danish Strellufsstövare (Danish Dachsbracke) with the goal to breed a “small capable hunting dog”. other hounds and the dachshund were mixed with Dachsbracken to produce this short-legged dog. gained popularity after 1940 when roe-deer spread in Sweden. the Swedish name Drever was adopted In 1947 and the breed approved by the Swedish Kennel Club in 1953. |
